The client’s warehouse was illuminated by approximately 300 T8 and U-shape fluorescent tube lights. The existing system presented several key challenges:

• High Energy Consumption: Each fluorescent bulb consumed 32 Watts, leading to substantial monthly electricity bills, especially given the long operating hours of a warehouse.

• Frequent Maintenance: Fluorescent tubes and their ballasts have a limited lifespan, requiring regular replacement, which incurs costs for both materials and labor, and can disrupt warehouse operations.

• Inconsistent Light Quality: The 4100K fluorescent bulbs produced a light that could be harsh and was prone to flickering as the bulbs aged, potentially impacting employee productivity and safety.

• Environmental Impact: Higher energy use and the presence of mercury in fluorescent tubes contribute to a larger environmental footprint.

A Strategic T8 to LED Retrofit

Our goal was to deliver a solution that provided superior lighting, drastically reduced energy consumption, and minimized future maintenance. We strategically replaced the old 32W T8 fluorescent bulbs with modern 14W LED tubes.

Key project details:

• Product Selection: We used high-quality, commercial-grade 14W LED tubes with a 4000K color temperature. This provides a clean, neutral white light that is ideal for warehouse environments, improving visibility and color rendering.

• Voltage Compatibility: The new LEDs were specified for 277V, a common commercial voltage, ensuring seamless integration with the building’s existing electrical infrastructure.

• Professional Installation: Our certified electricians meticulously retrofitted each fixture. This process involves  using direct-fit ballast-compatible LEDs for rapid installation. We ensured all work was done safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to the client’s daily operations.

• Vastly Improved Light Quality: The new 4000K LED lighting provides a brighter, more uniform, and flicker-free illumination across the entire warehouse floor. This enhances visibility, improves safety for employees and forklift operators, and creates a more pleasant working environment.

• Drastically Reduced Maintenance Costs: The new LED tubes have a lifespan that is 3-5 times longer than their fluorescent counterparts. This virtually eliminates the need for regular bulb and ballast replacements, freeing up maintenance budgets and staff for other tasks.
